A 24-year-old Indian woman named Simran has gone missing just days after arriving in New Jersey, United States, for an arranged marriage, according to local authorities.
Simran was last seen on June 20 shortly after her arrival. Surveillance footage captured her checking her phone and waiting, appearing calm and not in distress. She was reported missing five days later.
Investigators revealed that Simran traveled to the US for a planned arranged marriage. However, police are also considering the possibility that the marriage arrangement might have been used to obtain free airfare to America.
Simran has no known family members in the US and does not speak English. Her phone only works through Wi-Fi, making communication difficult. Police have been unable to contact any relatives in India so far.
She is described as about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing around 150 pounds, with a small scar on her forehead. At the time she went missing, she was wearing gray sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip-flops, and small diamond earrings.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Simran’s whereabouts to contact Detective Joe Tomasetti at Lindenwold Police.
