Farmers in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan are aiming for a strong potato harvest this season after successfully completing planting activities across large agricultural areas. The effort reflects the importance of potatoes as a key food crop in the country.
This spring, agricultural producers in Balkan velayat planted potatoes on approximately 1,600 hectares of land. The region has consistently contributed to the country’s overall agricultural output, especially in staple crops like potatoes.
Following the planting phase, farmers have now begun irrigation work across the fields to support early plant growth. Proper watering is being ensured to help young shoots develop under favorable conditions.
In addition to irrigation, fertilizers rich in minerals and micronutrients are being applied to improve soil fertility and boost crop productivity. These measures are aimed at ensuring higher yields and better crop quality.
The farming process combines traditional agricultural practices with modern technologies. This balanced approach is helping farmers improve efficiency and maintain sustainable production methods.
Machine operators from local “Obahyzmat” enterprises are playing a key role in field operations, particularly in inter-row cultivation. Their efforts are supported by prepared resources and equipment from local workshops.
Experts believe that the timely execution of all agricultural activities in line with technical standards indicates a promising season ahead, with expectations of a rich and successful potato harvest.
