US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that the United States is prepared to launch military strikes if ongoing talks fail to produce a deal. His remarks come just ahead of high-level negotiations in Islamabad.
In an interview, Trump said the US has begun reloading its warships with advanced weapons, signaling readiness for potential military action. He emphasized that if diplomacy does not succeed, the US would use its military capabilities “very effectively.”
The warning comes as US Vice President JD Vance travels to Pakistan to lead talks with Iranian officials. While expressing optimism about negotiations, Vance also cautioned that the US would not tolerate any attempts by Iran to manipulate the process.
Tensions remain high due to ongoing regional conflicts and disputes over strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz. Trump criticized Iran’s role in restricting oil flow through the vital waterway, which is crucial for global energy supply.
Iranian officials have also set conditions for the talks, insisting that certain issues, including regional conflicts, must be addressed before meaningful negotiations can proceed. Statements from Iranian leaders indicate that progress may depend on developments in Lebanon and broader Middle East tensions.
Security measures have been significantly tightened in Islamabad, with key routes blocked and heavy deployment of forces ahead of the arrival of delegations. The talks are being closely watched as a potential turning point in US-Iran relations.
The outcome of these discussions could have major implications for regional stability, global oil markets, and international diplomacy, as both sides weigh the possibility of either agreement or escalation.
