Lahore High Court Sees Physical Clashes Amid Bar Association Vote

Post by : Shakul

Chaotic scenes erupted inside the Lahore High Court on Monday as rival groups of lawyers engaged in heated arguments that quickly turned into physical clashes during the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) election. The altercation, which unfolded inside the court premises amid the ongoing election process, was widely circulated on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the public and legal community alike.

Video footage shared on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook shows lawyers shouting, exchanging abusive language and physically attacking each other. In one segment of the viral video, a female lawyer appears to strike a male colleague with a part of a fan, prompting a retaliatory assault in which the male lawyer repeatedly hits her. Other lawyers were also seen involved in separate scuffles, while onlookers filmed the unrest rather than intervening.

The violent confrontation has raised serious concerns about the professional conduct and discipline within Pakistan’s legal fraternity, especially as such behavior occurred within one of the country’s highest judicial forums. Critics have expressed shock online, questioning how lawyers — who are sworn to uphold justice — could engage in physical fights during a formal election process.

Police reportedly intervened to restore order and prevent further escalation, although no official injuries were immediately confirmed. The incident has intensified scrutiny over election tensions in the legal community and renewed calls for accountability and disciplinary measures to uphold decorum within court premises.
