UAE Resumes Limited Flights as Middle East Airspace Crisis Deepens

UAE Resumes Limited Flights as Middle East Airspace Crisis Deepens

Post by : Shakul

The United Arab Emirates has resumed a limited number of commercial flights as widespread airspace closures continue to disrupt travel across the Middle East amid escalating military tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Authorities confirmed that only select operations have been cleared as the regional aviation crisis deepens.

Dubai’s airport authority said a “small number” of flights were authorised to operate from Al Maktoum International Airport, also known as Dubai World Central. Passengers have been advised not to travel to airports unless directly contacted by their airline with confirmed departure timings.

Dubai-based Emirates announced a gradual resumption of limited services, prioritising stranded passengers. Meanwhile, Etihad Airways confirmed that regular commercial flights remain suspended until at least Wednesday, although repositioning, cargo and repatriation flights are operating subject to safety approvals. Flight tracking data showed multiple departures from Zayed International Airport, though some services were diverted or turned back due to rapidly changing airspace restrictions.

Several regional countries — including Iraq, Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain — have closed their airspace amid ongoing strikes and retaliatory actions. The strategic Strait of Hormuz has also faced heightened security concerns. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, more than 11,000 flights have been cancelled since the escalation began, leaving hundreds of thousands stranded and prompting governments, including Germany, to organise repatriation efforts for vulnerable citizens. UAE authorities say operations will resume gradually based on evolving security assessments.
