Dubai has officially unveiled the third edition of the DXB500 Communication Training Programme, designed to empower government and semi-government media representatives with cutting-edge skills to effectively share the city’s vision. This initiative, headed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, gathers 500 public sector professionals for immersive training and exposure to global best practices in media and communications.
The program combines education with practical workshops that emphasize storytelling, digital marketing strategies, and innovative content generation. Participants learned how to deliver clear and impactful messages while addressing the challenges posed by misinformation and fake news.
A notable highlight was the session titled “Media Campaigns and Their Role in Enhancing Economic Security,” led by His Excellency Faisal bin Sulaitin, CEO of the Dubai Economic Security Centre. He outlined the crucial role of competent media in safeguarding the economy, fostering investor confidence, and countering negative narratives aimed at global urban centers like Dubai. The session also highlighted the increasing influence of technology and AI in spreading misinformation, underscoring the need for awareness campaigns to protect economic interests.
Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson of the Dubai Media Council, stated that the DXB500 initiative epitomizes Dubai’s dedication to fostering a strong government communication framework. It provides national media professionals with the tools needed to craft cohesive and engaging narratives that resonate with both local and international audiences.
Participants were also introduced to groundbreaking campaigns such as the #ZayedAndRashid initiative by Brand Dubai, which celebrated national values through captivating storytelling, and the “Emirati Virtual Family” project by Dubai Digital, which utilized technology to connect citizens with government services. Lessons drawn from international campaigns, like the recent New York mayoral elections, emphasized the importance of understanding audiences and maintaining concise messaging through digital platforms.
Workshops aimed at creative communication, storytelling, and short-form content for platforms like TikTok enabled attendees to develop campaigns that resonate with digitally savvy audiences. This initiative represents a strategic pivot in government messaging—from traditional techniques to data-driven, AI-augmented strategies that focus on speed, clarity, and impact.
Through the DXB500 program, Dubai aspires to nurture a new breed of media professionals adept at narrating the city's story with precision, creativity, and a global outlook, thereby enhancing both local trust and international stature.
