Taliban Drone Strikes on Abbottabad Pakistan Airstrikes on Kabul & Kandahar

Post by : Shakul

Islamabad/Kabul — Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s Taliban‑led government have sharply escalated into one of the most serious cross‑border clashes in years, with both sides trading attacks along the disputed Durand Line border and conducting deep strikes into each other’s territory. Pakistan has declared an “open war” after days of hostilities that included Taliban assaults on military positions and extensive Pakistani airstrikes targeting Afghan areas, raising serious regional concern.

Officials in Islamabad say Pakistani forces launched Operation Ghazab lil‑Haqq, a coordinated offensive including airstrikes and ground operations against Taliban targets across Afghanistan — including capitals and border provinces — in response to what Pakistan described as repeated attacks on its positions and sanctuaries for militant groups inside Afghan soil. Pakistani authorities claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on Taliban fighters and destroyed multiple military posts.

The Taliban government and Afghan defence sources rejected Pakistan’s narrative, saying their forces launched retaliatory strikes along key sectors of the Durand Line and captured or damaged several Pakistani outposts. Kabul’s officials also reported Pakistani strikes caused civilian casualties in Afghan border communities, including in provinces like Nangarhar and Paktika — a claim Islamabad disputes.

The conflict, rooted in long‑standing disagreements over border demarcation and accusations that Afghanistan harbours insurgent groups targeting Pakistan, has seen both sides report heavy casualties and contradictory figures that cannot be independently verified. The international community has urged restraint as fears grow that the confrontation could spiral into a broader regional conflict, complicating already fragile security dynamics in South Asia.
