A 44-year-old nurse was seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked and stabbed multiple times by her 47-year-old husband at their home in Kampung Padang Lepai, near Kadok, in Kota Bharu, Malaysia. The incident reportedly took place at around 8.30pm. Police received information about the incident on the same night and subsequently detained the woman's husband after he surrendered to authorities. The victim suffered stab wounds to her body and neck and was taken to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II for medical treatment. Her condition and the full extent of her injuries are being assessed by doctors. Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri confirmed the incident and said the suspect had been remanded for seven days to assist with the investigation.
The 47-year-old suspect was placed under police custody from Tuesday and is expected to remain on remand until Oct 12. Police are investigating the case under Section 326 of Malaysia's Penal Code, which concerns voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon. Investigators have also seized a knife believed to be connected to the incident. Police have not yet established the motive behind the alleged attack. The remand period is expected to allow investigators to gather evidence, record statements and establish what happened inside the house before and during the incident.

The woman's mother, 78-year-old Zubaidah Abdullah, said her daughter had been married to the suspect for about six years and was in the process of seeking a divorce. According to the mother, her daughter had also previously made a police report after allegedly receiving death threats. This information is now an important part of the wider investigation, although police have yet to establish whether the previous complaint was directly connected to the latest incident. The mother said she initially believed that the couple were involved in an ordinary argument. She realised the situation was more serious after noticing blood on the floor.
Zubaidah said she attempted to intervene after seeing her daughter being attacked. She tried to pull the man's shirt from behind but was unable to stop him. She also suffered an injury during the incident and required two stitches to one of her fingers. The family reportedly did not realise that the suspect was outside the kitchen because the area was dark. The incident escalated quickly, leaving the victim seriously injured.
During the incident, the woman's 12-year-old grandson reportedly ran outside to seek help. The suspect allegedly left the scene after the attack. He later went to Nilam Puri police station and surrendered to authorities. Police subsequently took him into custody as part of their investigation.
