Authorities in Kapilvastu District have lifted the prohibitory order imposed in several areas after tensions between two communities subsided and normalcy began to return. The restrictions were officially withdrawn from Tuesday morning, allowing residents to resume daily activities.
The curbs were initially enforced following a clash in Bargada village under Maharajganj Municipality on March 21. The dispute between members of two communities escalated quickly, prompting the District Administration Office to impose restrictions the same day to prevent further unrest.
The prohibitory orders covered multiple areas, including parts of Kapilvastu Municipality, Mayadevi Rural Municipality, and Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality. Authorities had banned public gatherings, rallies, protests, and assemblies as a precautionary measure to control the situation.
According to officials, the security situation gradually improved from Monday evening, with increased deployment of police forces helping restore order. Assistant Chief District Officer Bhawishwar Ghimire stated that the decision to lift the restrictions was taken to ease public movement and support the return to normal life.
Local markets, transport services, and daily routines have now resumed, although authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any resurgence of tensions.
The incident highlights the importance of swift administrative action in maintaining peace in sensitive areas, especially where local disputes can escalate rapidly. Officials have urged residents to maintain harmony and avoid spreading misinformation as the district returns to stability.
