Umno Bloc Withdraws Support, Negeri Sembilan Govt in Crisis

Post by : Shakul

A major political development has emerged in Negeri Sembilan, where the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) bloc has officially withdrawn support from Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, citing a complete loss of confidence in his leadership.

State Umno chairman Jalaluddin Alias announced that all 14 Umno/Barisan Nasional assemblymen reached a unanimous decision, marking a significant political shift within the state assembly. This move raises serious concerns about the stability of the current government.

Jalaluddin stated that the bloc remains committed to upholding the state’s constitutional framework, adat (customary institutions), and governance principles. However, he emphasized the urgent need for a stable administration capable of effectively managing the state and improving public welfare and economic conditions.

A formal notice regarding the withdrawal of support is expected to be submitted to the State Legislative Assembly Speaker, signaling the escalation of the political crisis.

The situation has been further complicated by an ongoing controversy involving a declaration linked to the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. Aminuddin had earlier dismissed the declaration as invalid, stating it held no legal or customary authority under the state constitution.

He clarified that the individual behind the declaration no longer holds any official position and that the act contradicts constitutional provisions and established traditions. The issue has intensified political tensions and contributed to the current instability.

As the crisis unfolds, attention now turns to how the state leadership will respond and whether a new political alignment or administrative change will take place in the coming days.
