An important interactive meeting focused on children’s rights and youth participation was held in Bishkek, bringing together school leaders and student representatives from across the capital. The discussion aimed to strengthen the role of young people in decision-making processes that directly impact their lives.
The session was attended by Asel Chynbaeva, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights, who actively engaged with students and listened to their concerns and suggestions. She emphasized the need to create systems that ensure children’s voices are heard in policy decisions.
During the dialogue, participants highlighted the importance of establishing permanent mechanisms that allow children to express their views. Discussions focused on how students can play a greater role in shaping decisions related to education, social welfare, and urban development.
A wide range of issues affecting children and teenagers was raised during the meeting. These included psychological safety, bullying and cyberbullying prevention, protection from domestic violence, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all students regardless of background.
Students also stressed the need for better access to mental health services and stronger support systems for families. These concerns reflect growing awareness among young people about their rights and well-being in modern society.
Another key focus area was improving the education system. Participants discussed upgrading school infrastructure, enhancing medical facilities in schools, and ensuring the emotional well-being of teachers, which directly affects the quality of education.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of school self-governance as a way to build leadership skills and civic responsibility among students. Officials confirmed that all proposals and ideas shared during the session will be reviewed and used to improve youth policies and strengthen children’s rights in the country.
