Pakistan-Afghan Clash Leaves 4 Dead, 70 Hurt

Post by : Shakul

Tensions have sharply escalated along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan after reports of deadly violence in the Kunar region. According to Afghan authorities, at least four people were killed and around 70 others were injured during the incident.

The Afghan Taliban government claimed that mortar and rocket strikes were launched by Pakistani forces on Monday, targeting areas in Asadabad. The strikes reportedly hit residential homes and even a university, affecting civilians including women, children, and students.

Local sources described scenes of panic and destruction as explosions damaged buildings and injured dozens. Emergency services rushed to the area to assist the wounded, many of whom were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

However, Pakistan has strongly denied the allegations. Officials in Islamabad stated that the reports are false and clarified that any military operations are aimed only at militant infrastructure and not civilian areas.

The incident has further strained already tense relations between the two neighboring countries. Border areas have often witnessed clashes, with both sides accusing each other of cross-border aggression.

Experts warn that such incidents could increase instability in the region if not addressed through diplomatic channels. Calls for restraint and dialogue are growing from international observers.

Authorities on both sides are expected to continue monitoring the situation closely as investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
