Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of football superstar Lionel Messi’s visit to the national capital on Monday. The Argentine icon will begin the final leg of his India tour, with the main event scheduled at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Fans are eagerly awaiting his appearance, where Messi is expected to felicitate Minerva Academy’s youth teams, which have recently won three national trophies, making the occasion a major attraction for sports enthusiasts in Delhi.
In preparation for the footballer’s arrival, Delhi Police announced that diversions will be in place on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg. The advisory specifically mentioned that heavy vehicles will not be allowed from Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road to ensure smooth traffic flow. Residents were also advised to avoid JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg due to expected heavy movement and congestion related to Messi’s tour.
To manage the large influx of visitors, the authorities have shared entry and exit points for fans who have purchased tickets, emphasizing the use of public transportation such as metro and buses. Parking around Arun Jaitley Stadium has been prohibited, and violators will face towing and fines. The measures aim to minimize traffic disruptions and ensure the safety of both visitors and the football icon.
As Messi prepares to meet fans and celebrate young sporting talent, the city is gearing up for one of the biggest public events of the year. The Delhi Police are coordinating closely with local authorities to manage crowd control and maintain smooth traffic operations around the stadium, making this visit a memorable and safe experience for all.
This event is expected to attract significant attention, highlighting Delhi as a hub for major international sports visits while ensuring residents and visitors are well-informed of the necessary traffic arrangements.
