The Zayed Charity Run 2026 will take place at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on May 3, commencing at 7:00 AM. This event represents the UAE's unwavering dedication to humanitarian ideals and aims to convey a worldwide message of kindness and solidarity.
Organized as an exclusive event, the run will unite participants for a dual purpose of sports and charity. All funds raised from the initiative will be directed by the Emirates Red Crescent to the Children's Heart Fund Ethiopia, which focuses on enhancing healthcare for children.
A group of 50 runners from the UAE will be participating in this event, which is part of a larger global initiative that has already seen the involvement of thousands around the world. The run underscores the richness of cultural diversity and fosters unity among individuals from various backgrounds.
To inject a competitive spirit into the event, a prize pool of AED 150,000 has been introduced for participants, although the primary aim remains its humanitarian efforts.
A press conference on May 1 featured Lt. General (Ret.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, alongside Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. They emphasized the significance of this initiative and its global influence.
Launched in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Zayed Charity Run has successfully gathered over 700,000 participants and raised upwards of $173 million for healthcare and humanitarian efforts globally since its inception.
Organizers emphasize that the event transcends mere competition. It embodies the principles of generosity, inclusion, and communal spirit while reinforcing ties between countries. This initiative continues to serve as a unique platform that melds sports with impactful humanitarian work, leaving a lasting positive footprint in communities.
