The Cleveland Guardians secured a convincing 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, thanks to an outstanding pitching performance by Gavin Williams. The right-hander struck out 10 batters across seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and keeping the Dodgers' lineup under complete control.
Offensively, José Ramírez led the charge by hitting his first home run of the season, while Gabriel Arias also contributed with a solo homer. Williams faced minimal trouble throughout the game, efficiently navigating key moments, including a crucial double play against Shohei Ohtani in the sixth inning.
Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a solid outing, pitching six innings and allowing two runs, but lacked sufficient run support. The Dodgers managed to avoid a shutout in the ninth inning when Freddie Freeman hit a late home run.
Despite the loss, the Dodgers marked a historic moment by becoming the first MLB team to start Japanese-born pitchers in three consecutive games, including Roki Sasaki and Ohtani. However, it was the Guardians who ultimately claimed the series, winning two out of three games.
