Trump Hosts White House Halloween Bash With Superheroes and Kids

Trump Hosts White House Halloween Bash With Superheroes and Kids

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed hundreds of costumed children to the White House Halloween party Thursday evening, turning the South Lawn into a vibrant display of autumn festivities. From superheroes and princesses to tiny mini-presidents, the celebration drew children of military families, White House staffers, and local residents.

The presidential couple greeted guests to the iconic rhythm of an orchestral version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Trump wore a blue suit, red tie, and a red “USA” cap, while the first lady donned a brown coat over an orange dress. Neither opted for a costume. They handed out full-sized Hershey bars and Twizzlers in boxes adorned with the presidential seal, delighting a long line of children and parents that stretched down the driveway.

Despite a government shutdown now in its 30th day, the tradition went ahead, showcasing the White House’s seasonal decorations, from carved pumpkins on the balcony stairs to fall flowers and oversized autumn leaves. Temporary walls shielded ongoing construction of a new White House ballroom, though a bulldozer remained visible in the background.

Hundreds of children attended, dressed as Spider-Man, Captain America, ballerinas, princesses, leprechauns, and other imaginative characters. Among them were children of military members and White House staffers, including Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt with her young son dressed as a pumpkin. Some children wore outfits mimicking the president and first lady, complete with “USA” caps.

While some toddlers were shy around the Trumps, the festive mood and candy treats ensured smiles all around. The White House Halloween party offered a moment of joy amid ongoing political and economic challenges, reminding families and the nation of the season’s lighthearted spirit.
