Vancouver is gearing up for a major transformation with the upcoming launch of the Oakridge Park Mall, set to officially open on May 28, 2026. This development marks one of the largest urban redevelopments in Canadian history, poised to turn the Oakridge area into a thriving hub for commerce, housing, and cultural activities.
The project has been in the works for several years, replacing the original Oakridge Centre, which first opened in 1959. The new mixed-use development will feature a blend of luxury retail stores, diverse dining options, entertainment venues, office spaces, residential buildings, parks, and community amenities, all designed to foster a modern urban environment with direct public transit access.
At 11 a.m. on May 28, the mall will welcome its first visitors, expected to draw large crowds from the Greater Vancouver area and tourists alike. The mall aims to be a premier shopping destination, showcasing international luxury brands and lifestyle experiences, alongside a variety of dining options.
With over 140 retail outlets and renowned luxury brands, Oakridge Park promises exciting dining venues like Time Out Market Vancouver, which will highlight local culinary talent and unique dining experiences. Additionally, the development will incorporate cultural venues, live performance areas, and artistic features for visitors to enjoy.
A standout element of the redevelopment is a vast rooftop public park spanning nine acres. This green space will include walking paths, playgrounds, fitness zones, gardens, and outdoor event areas, encouraging community interaction and enhancing the area’s ecological sustainability.
Urban planners have hailed Oakridge Park as a pioneering project for the city, expected to spur economic activity and elevate the Oakridge neighborhood’s profile as a vibrant shopping, dining, and residential destination. The initiative is anticipated to generate employment opportunities across retail, hospitality, and property management sectors.
The development's strategic link to the Canada Line SkyTrain via the Oakridge–41st Avenue Station has attracted attention for its commitment to transit-oriented development, merging transportation, housing, and commercial opportunities in one locale.
While the retail section will open in May, construction on residential towers and other parts of the complex will continue, marking a significant milestone in a project long anticipated by locals. Business owners and tourism representatives are optimistic that this new destination will appeal to residents and global visitors alike.
