On April 25 and May 6, 2026, multiple terrorist attacks in various locations throughout Mali resulted in numerous casualties, prompting a strong condemnation from the United Nations Security Council.
In a statement issued on Friday, Security Council members condemned the assaults as “despicable and cowardly,” offering heartfelt condolences to the affected victims and their families.
The Council emphasized the necessity of ensuring that all those implicated in these attacks—including the executors, planners, financiers, and supporters of terrorism—are held accountable and swiftly brought to justice.
Reaffirming that terrorism in all its forms poses a significant threat to global peace and stability, members called on nations to enhance their cooperation in combating terrorism as per international law.
This statement reflects rising international alarm regarding the deteriorating security conditions in Mali, where ongoing terrorist activity continues to jeopardize civilian lives and regional order.
