Viral UK Vlogger Video Sheds Light on Indian Train Challenges

Viral UK Vlogger Video Sheds Light on Indian Train Challenges

Post by : Meena Ariff

Foreign travelers frequently document their journeys on Indian trains, sharing everything from unforgettable moments to challenging scenarios. A recent viral video by UK vlogger @backpacker.ben has drawn eyes for spotlighting some of the negatives associated with train travel in India.

In the clip, Ben shared two incidents that contributed to his irritation during the ride. The first featured a fellow traveler who persistently rested his foot on Ben's seat, despite courteous appeals to cease. “So I’m just going to have to accept it, for the next couple of hours, his foot is going to be there,” Ben noted.

The second incident involved a local vendor. While filming, Ben was hit by a spittle from another passenger munching on a cucumber-based snack, leading to a visible reaction of disgust.

Ben's video quickly garnered attention, eliciting strong reactions online. While some users condemned the behavior of the passengers, others questioned Ben's decision regarding travel class, noting that AC coaches and higher tiers would provide a more pleasant and cleaner experience. Comments included:

  • “Bro, if you upgrade to 2nd or 1st class, that will cost you like $5 more.”

  • “You get what you pay for. Next time, save some money and travel in better transportation modes.”

  • “You chose the local compartment and are complaining. There are perfectly good AC coaches available. Spend a little extra and travel comfortably.”

This isn't the first instance of Ben's content on Indian trains going viral. A previous video depicted a staff member cleaning a moving train, raising concerns among viewers about waste management practices and hygiene protocols on Indian Railways.

Such incidents have ignited conversations on social media, reflecting the contrast between the expectations of budget travelers and the realities encountered during train journeys in India.
