In a significant advancement for the logistics industry, Etihad Rail Freight has partnered with Al Masaood Automobiles to complete the UAE’s inaugural rail transport of finished cars for an automotive dealership.
This groundbreaking shipment involved Nissan vehicles being carried from Fujairah's eastern coast ports to the dry port at the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), marking a critical shift in the transportation of goods via contemporary rail infrastructure.
As the official distributor for Nissan, INFINITI, and Renault across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, Al Masaood Automobiles has pioneered this rail operation, becoming the first automotive dealer in the UAE to ship finished cars via rail.
This venture illustrates the evolving nature of rail transport, extending its use to high-value items like vehicles, thereby integrating seamlessly into modern supply chains to enhance efficiency and dependability.
The rail system facilitated a smooth transit of vehicles from the port to their destination, minimizing delays and optimizing delivery schedules. Quicker and more consistent transport increases customer satisfaction, particularly in the automotive industry, where prompt delivery is crucial.
Omar Alsebeyi, CEO of Etihad Rail Freight, emphasized that this milestone showcases the potential of rail freight as a dependable and scalable solution. He noted that the UAE’s growing national rail network is instrumental in bolstering logistical efficiency and resilience within the country.
Irfan Tansel, CEO of Al Masaood Automobiles, remarked that this initiative enhances customer experience through efficient vehicle deliveries and stressed the significance of collaboration between national infrastructure and private enterprises.
Beyond operational advantages, this transition to rail also supports sustainability objectives, as rail transport generates fewer emissions than road transport, assisting the UAE in its commitment to reduce environmental impact and achieve its Net Zero 2050 goals.
This achievement underscores the UAE’s robust infrastructure and commitment to cultivating smarter, more sustainable logistics solutions for the future.
