Abu Dhabi – President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a written message from Ahmad Al‑Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, underscoring the fraternal relations between the United Arab Emirates and Syria. The message was handed over by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting with Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Assad Hassan Al‑Shaibani.
The discussions addressed the repercussions of a series of Iranian drone and missile attacks on the UAE as part of the broader 2026 Iran war, which has seen the United Arab Emirates intercept hundreds of ballistic missiles and UAVs launched from Iran. The diplomatic exchange highlighted both nations’ condemnation of the unprovoked strikes and affirmed the right of affected countries to protect their sovereignty and citizens in line with international law.
Al‑Shaibani reiterated Syria’s full solidarity with the UAE and support for measures taken to maintain security and stability. In response, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed gratitude for Syria’s supportive stance. The senior diplomats also explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and deepen fraternal ties to advance shared interests and prosperity for their peoples.
The meeting reviewed regional developments and emphasized the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve crises and outstanding issues, contributing to regional and international security. Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State, also attended the talks.
