The year 2025 stands as a monumental chapter in the UAE's Olympic narrative, showcasing unprecedented medal wins alongside exceptional athletic displays on both regional and global platforms. These achievements epitomize not only sports excellence but also the increasing ambition and skill of the nation’s competitors in various fields.
During a session of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) Board of Directors in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE NOC, underlined how the milestones of 2025 have established new standards for the UAE's Olympic agenda. He expressed confidence that the accomplishments of this year will inspire future generations to strive for greater heights while representing the UAE.
The year kicked off on a high note at the 3rd GCC Beach Games in Muscat, where Emirati athletes achieved their finest performance, accumulating an impressive total of 23 medals. This success carried over to the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, where the UAE squad amassed 31 medals, marking their highest achievement at this event with several landmark performances.
Additionally, UAE competitors excelled at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, returning with 27 medals, a historic record exceeding previous participations significantly.
Throughout the meeting, Sheikh Mansoor commended the tenacity, commitment, and perseverance exhibited by athletes in various competitions, highlighting that each victory moment stood as a testament to national pride as the UAE flag was raised. He emphasized that such triumphs stem from a dedicated sense of duty towards showcasing the nation on an international level.
The meeting, which included Minister of Sports Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE NOC Secretary General Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, and other key members, addressed various strategic initiatives. This included the formation of new committees targeting ethics, Olympic solidarity, gender equity, and media relations, along with approving technical, administrative evaluations for 2025 and plans for 2026.
Decisions regarding financial protocols, final accounts for 2025, and budget estimates for 2026 connected to the Olympic Competition Agenda were also sanctioned by the members. Furthermore, preparations for the inaugural GCC Conference on Sports Law and Sports Management were discussed, along with potential regulatory frameworks for upcoming sports federation elections.
Concluding the meeting, the members approved the new logo for the UAE NOC and reviewed the outcomes of recent international engagements. His Highness Sheikh Mansoor also met with the UAE national badminton team, recently celebrated as champions at the AirBadminton World Cup hosted in Sharjah, sealing a year that firmly marks 2025 as a significant milestone in the UAE's sporting legacy.
