In a significant advancement for cyber defense, the UAE Cyber Security Council has collaborated with QuantumGate to introduce a national Crypto Discovery Tool (CDT). Developed in Abu Dhabi, this innovative solution is aimed at bolstering the country's transition to quantum-safe cybersecurity.
Guided by the UAE National Cryptography Center, this tool forms a crucial element of the national cybersecurity strategy. Its primary goal is to prepare organizations for potential quantum computing challenges by enhancing their oversight and management of cryptographic infrastructures.
CDT operates by automatically identifying and cataloging cryptographic assets within digital settings. It generates a comprehensive inventory of encryption technologies in use, allowing for a clear assessment of vulnerabilities and risks. This functionality enables companies to effectively mitigate cryptographic threats and devise a structured plan to migrate to post-quantum encryption methods.
Officials emphasize the importance of this system for critical national infrastructure, where robust future-ready security measures are vital.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti, the UAE Government’s Head of Cyber Security, remarked that this partnership signifies an important leap toward enhancing the nation’s cybersecurity capabilities. He noted that possessing homegrown tools for managing cryptographic systems across various sectors is crucial for a safe shift to post-quantum encryption.
According to QuantumGate CEO Dr. Najwa Aaraj, the tool provides organizations with comprehensive insights into their cryptographic risks, facilitating proactive measures before quantum threats materialize.
The Crypto Discovery Tool also features continuous monitoring capabilities, allowing for the real-time observation of cryptographic assets. This functionality ensures that organizations are ready for compliance audits and can maintain security as standards evolve. Its compliance framework is modular, adapting to new regulatory mandates from the UAE Cyber Security Council.
As a component of the UAE National Post-Quantum Migration Programme, CDT will aid both public and private sectors in smoothly transitioning to quantum-resistant encryption standards.
Additionally, the system will integrate with the UAE’s broader cybersecurity architecture via the National Cybersecurity Index platform, channeling data into a national Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Index to provide authorities with a comprehensive overview of the nation's cryptographic security state.
This integration aims to enhance national monitoring, improve readiness assessments, and facilitate informed decision-making.
The launch of the Crypto Discovery Tool represents a crucial development in the collaboration between the UAE Cyber Security Council and QuantumGate, solidifying the country’s role as a pioneer in quantum-safe cybersecurity innovations.
