The United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan have embarked on a collaborative journey to heighten aviation safety with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement is dedicated to fortifying joint efforts in investigating aircraft accidents and incidents. The ceremonial signing occurred at the Dubai Airshow 2025, symbolizing a major advancement for both countries in enhancing their operational coordination and investigative capabilities.
The MoU was officially signed by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Director-General of the UAE, and Talgat Lastaev, Kazakhstan’s Vice-Minister of Transport. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Captain Aysha Mohammed Al Hamili, the GCAA's Assistant Director-General for the Air Transport Accident Investigation Sector.
This cooperative framework will enable both nations to engage in several crucial activities. The agreement outlines mutual support during investigations, ensuring access to specialized facilities and technical resources when necessary. It also encompasses the sharing of personnel for training initiatives aimed at enhancing investigative expertise and facilitating knowledge exchange between both nations’ experts.
In addition, the partnership allows for observer involvement in one another's investigations, providing real-time insights into procedures and methodologies. Plans for technical visits, joint meetings, and information exchange are also part of the MoU, which will be executed in compliance with national laws and international aviation regulations.
The signing at one of the most significant aviation exhibitions worldwide highlights the increasing importance of international collaboration in air safety. This MoU represents a commitment from both nations to uphold high aviation oversight standards and continuously improve their accident investigation methodologies.
