UAE Supports 300 Couples in Historic Mass Wedding in Gaza

UAE Supports 300 Couples in Historic Mass Wedding in Gaza

Post by : Badri Ariffin

On April 24, a monumental mass wedding took place in the heart of Gaza, where 300 couples celebrated their unions, facilitated by the United Arab Emirates through its humanitarian initiative, “Gallant Knight 3.”

This significant ceremony was part of the “Joy Dress 2” program, aimed at assisting young couples to navigate financial hurdles as they embark on their married lives.

The event drew a crowd of approximately 20,000, consisting of family members, community leaders, and representatives from both local and international organizations, marking it as one of the largest collective weddings in the region.

Couples were chosen from a pool of applicants who registered in February, focusing on those who had never been married and who met certain economic and eligibility criteria.

Beyond the wedding vows, this initiative offered financial aid and support to assist couples in establishing their new homes, covering necessary wedding costs and fundamental needs.

The ceremony featured Quran readings, official marriage pronouncements, and traditional Palestinian entertainment, including the popular dabke dance. Both UAE and Palestinian anthems contributed to the celebratory ambiance.

Officials indicated that this initiative underscores the UAE’s continued humanitarian commitment to Gaza through “Gallant Knight 3,” which has facilitated aid since the onset of the conflict in October 2023. This marked the second mass wedding organized as part of the program.

Attendees described this moment as a beacon of hope and relief, especially for those couples who have endured displacement, injury, or financial struggles prior to their marriage.
