UAE Announces 2026 as the Year of the Family to Foster Unity and Values

UAE Announces 2026 as the Year of the Family to Foster Unity and Values

Post by : Rameen Ariff

In a significant development, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has proclaimed 2026 as the Year of the Family, underscoring the UAE’s steadfast dedication to family values, which serve as the foundation of a nurturing and strong society.

This announcement was made during a discussion on the National Family Growth Agenda 2031, conducted at the UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi. The initiative seeks to amplify the UAE’s vision of enhancing the pivotal role of families in cultivating a united, empathetic, and resilient community, thriving on the tenets of cooperation.

The Year of the Family 2026 will act as a national reminder of the crucial part families play in crafting the nation's future. It aims to promote intergenerational connections and ensure that Emirati values of care, respect, and social responsibility are instilled in upcoming generations.

To guarantee the initiative’s success, a national task force comprising more than 20 government entities has been formed. This team will concentrate on three principal areas: developing policies, incorporating behavioral insights, and enhancing reproductive health, all aimed at fostering a supportive environment that enriches family life throughout the UAE.

Under the National Family Growth Agenda 2031, the government aims to bolster programs and policies that nurture family stability, improve work-life balance, and promote social well-being. By integrating these principles into community development, the UAE aspires to build a society where each family is empowered to enhance the nation’s sustained growth and prosperity.

The Year of the Family 2026 will also showcase a variety of nationwide campaigns, educational initiatives, and cultural projects, aimed at elevating awareness regarding the significance of family unity. It will foster collaboration among government bodies, private sectors, and community organizations to uphold and celebrate the UAE’s rich traditions of unity and respect.

Through this visionary initiative, the UAE positions itself as a global paragon of inclusive social development, recognizing family cohesion as the essence of progress.
