Mekan Ishangulyyev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Türkiye, held an important meeting with Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, on May 1, 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and exploring new opportunities for growth.
During the discussion, both sides shared their views on how to expand bilateral cooperation in the current global economic environment. They emphasized the need to build stronger connections between businesses and create new pathways for trade and investment between Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
The meeting highlighted the importance of diversifying business relations to adapt to modern economic conditions. Both leaders agreed that expanding cooperation across different sectors would help create a more stable and balanced economic partnership between the two nations.
Special attention was given to the development of new joint projects. These projects are expected to play a key role in boosting trade activities and increasing collaboration between companies from both countries. The focus is on practical initiatives that can deliver real economic benefits.
Both sides also noted the strong potential for increasing bilateral trade turnover in the coming years. They expressed confidence that with proper planning and cooperation, trade volumes can grow steadily and contribute positively to both economies.
The role of business communities was considered very important in this process. Strengthening ties between entrepreneurs and companies from both countries can help build long term partnerships and encourage more investment opportunities.
It was also highlighted that institutional platforms such as the Intergovernmental Turkmen–Turkish Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Turkmen–Turkish Business Council will continue to play a major role. These platforms help guide cooperation and support business engagement.
In addition, organizing exhibitions, trade fairs, and joint business forums was discussed as an effective way to promote interaction between companies. Such events can create new connections and open doors for collaboration in various industries.
