Turkmen students studying in China proudly represented their country at the 22nd International Youth Cultural Festival held in Beijing on May 14, 2026. The event took place at Chengxin Square of the University of International Business and Economics under the theme “Lead the Tide, Embrace the World.” The festival brought together young participants from more than one hundred countries to celebrate cultural diversity and international friendship.
With support from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China, Turkmen students actively participated in the festival and presented the rich traditions and cultural heritage of their country. Their participation reflected Turkmenistan’s continued commitment to cultural exchange, peace and international cooperation through youth engagement.
A special national pavilion representing Turkmenistan was established during the festival. The pavilion attracted many visitors including diplomats, international students and representatives of public organizations. Guests explored displays highlighting Turkmenistan’s national identity, achievements and cultural traditions.
The cultural performances by Turkmen students became one of the main attractions of the event. Students performed traditional dances that showcased the artistic spirit and unity of Turkmen youth. Their performances received positive reactions from international visitors and highlighted the country’s vibrant cultural heritage.
The Turkmen pavilion also introduced guests to traditional national cuisine. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about Turkmen hospitality and cultural customs through food presentations and cultural displays prepared by the students. The exhibition reflected the country’s “open doors” policy and focus on intercultural dialogue.
Before the festival, Turkmen students also participated in a symposium titled “High-Quality Development of Higher Energy Education within the Belt and Road Initiative” held at the China University of Petroleum. Students presented their ideas and took part in discussions related to education, energy development and international cooperation.
Officials stated that the participation of Turkmen youth in these international events demonstrates the country’s growing role in strengthening humanitarian and educational ties around the world. The enthusiasm and professionalism shown by the students reflected Turkmenistan’s support for mutual understanding and global friendship.
The successful presentation of the Turkmen pavilion at one of Beijing’s major international youth platforms also strengthened the country’s image abroad. The event highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage while encouraging young people to engage in international cultural exchange and cooperation.
