Prabhas kicks off 2026 with impressive box office numbers as his latest film, The Raja Saab, performs admirably on its debut day. Directed by Maruthi, this horror comedy, while receiving varied responses from critics and viewers, resonated strongly with Prabhas' extensive fan base.
As per early box office estimates, The Raja Saab accumulated ₹15.34 crore net in India by 4 PM on Friday, as indicated by Sacnilk. The impressive opening is particularly noteworthy given the late start of advance bookings and the film's deviation from traditional mass action narratives.
Initially, industry analysts expected The Raja Saab to record the least impressive opening among Prabhas' post-pandemic outings. However, it surprised many by surpassing the recent box office hits. By surpassing Dhurandhar—which had dominated the Indian box office for five weeks—The Raja Saab took a commanding lead.
By 9 AM on opening day, The Raja Saab had surpassed Dhurandhar’s previous day collection of ₹4.25 crore, officially claiming the top box office position.
While the opening figures still trail behind those of Prabhas’ earlier hits like Salaar (₹90 crore), Kalki 2898 AD (₹95 crore), and Adipurush (₹86 crore), The Raja Saab is poised to outshine the opening day collections of significant recent films such as Jawan (₹64 crore), Animal (₹63 crore), Leo (₹64.80 crore), and Dhurandhar (₹30 crore).
The ongoing performance of the film throughout the weekend will be vital in determining its longevity at the box office.
The Raja Saab signifies Prabhas' return to the family-oriented entertainment genre after a considerable period. Following the iconic Baahubali series, he has predominantly engaged in grand action flicks. Fans regard this film as a revival of the beloved ‘vintage Prabhas’.
Joining Prabhas in the film are notable actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab.
