Prabhas’ newest release, The Raja Saab, which premiered in theaters on January 9, has made a remarkable impact at the box office. The film earned an impressive Rs 130.25 crore during its opening week, marking a strong start for this horror-comedy. Though the collections slightly slowed down during its second week, the movie still managed to add Rs 3.50 crore on the eighth day, pushing its total box office earnings to Rs 133.75 crore.
On its second Friday, The Raja Saab recorded an average occupancy of about 35% in the Telugu-speaking regions. Among the different show timings, the evening screenings attracted the largest audience with a 43.54% occupancy rate. Afternoon shows followed with 37.57%, while night shows held steady at 36.85%. The morning shows, however, had the lowest turnout, recording an occupancy of 21.57%.
The film’s storyline centers around Raja Saab, played by Prabhas, an ordinary man who lives in a village with his grandmother. His grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and firmly believes that her husband, Kanakaraja, will return home after completing a vital mission. The plot takes an emotional and supernatural twist when Raja Saab encounters a mysterious man who looks remarkably like his grandfather. This encounter sparks a heartfelt journey as Raja Saab vows to reunite the elderly couple, unfolding a story that blends emotion with elements of the supernatural.
In addition to Prabhas, the movie boasts a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Zarina Wahab, Samuthirakani, Boman Irani, Murali Sharma, VTV Ganesh, and Prabhas Sreenu. The film is produced by IVY Entertainment and People Media Factory, known for backing successful projects in the industry.
Recently, director Maruthi Dasari confirmed that work on a sequel to The Raja Saab is already underway. He revealed that while the sequel will stay true to the horror genre, it will feature a completely new story and setting, distinct from the original. The director aims to elevate the horror experience with a fresh, innovative script designed to offer something unique and unexplored in this genre.
With its strong box office performance and plans for a sequel, The Raja Saab continues to captivate audiences and build excitement among fans eager for more.
