Prabhas’ latest horror-comedy, The Raja Saab, continues to make waves at the box office despite a dip after its strong opening. On Sunday, the film earned ₹19.1 crore across all languages in India, bringing its domestic total to ₹108.26 crore.
The movie had a strong worldwide debut, crossing ₹150 crore in its opening weekend, and is now aiming for ₹200 crore globally by Makar Sankranti on January 14. Sunday’s collections fell from Saturday’s ₹26 crore, but the film is still performing well among audiences.
Directed by Maruthi Dasari, The Raja Saab follows a young heir who investigates his grandfather's mysterious disappearance and comes face-to-face with a disembodied sorcerer in a haunted mansion. The cast includes Prabhas, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal.
For Prabhas, a ₹100 crore-plus opening weekend is familiar. His previous films, such as Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, also achieved massive openings. Kalki 2898 AD eventually earned over ₹543 crore domestically, while Salaar collected over ₹200 crore in its first weekend. Even the widely discussed Adipurush managed more than ₹215 crore during its opening weekend.
Excitingly, a sequel has already been announced: The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935. Maruthi Dasari will return as director, though the release date is yet to be confirmed. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter of this horror-comedy adventure.
