Dubai – The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI) has revealed the winners of the House of the Future 2.0 Global Competition, held under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The announcement aligned with an exhibition at Emirates Towers Boulevard, featuring award-winning projects from both editions of this notable competition over a span of two months.
The exhibition displays groundbreaking architectural designs for sustainable homes, embodying the UAE's ambition for smart, future-ready cities that emphasize sustainability and well-being.
Winners of the Competition
The second iteration of the competition, in collaboration with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, honored innovative designs for smart and sustainable residences:
1st Place: House of Courts (Germany) – Integrates traditional UAE architecture such as wind towers with modern sustainability features.
2nd Place: Modular (UK) – A versatile modular home design intended for future urban landscapes.
3rd Place: FlexiCourts (China) – Maximizes natural light and air circulation to minimize energy consumption.
Innovation Awards: Local House (UK) and Regenerative Vernacular (Canada) – Highlight cultural heritage, environmental sustainability, and low-emission 3D-printed construction.
Key Remarks
HE Suhail bin Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, characterized the competition as a key milestone in developing an integrated model for Emirati housing, aiming for efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability. He underlined the significance of strong alliances between MBRCGI and the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme in promoting forward-thinking housing solutions that align with the UAE's smart city objectives.
HE Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, noted the competition as a platform for advancing global sustainable architecture, motivating designers around the world to engage in innovative housing solutions.
Global Participation and Awards
Over 5,000 entries from 140 nations participated in the competition. The total prize pool of AED 1 million was allocated as follows: AED 500,000 for the first place, AED 200,000 for the second, AED 100,000 for the third, and AED 200,000 for the Innovation Award category. A panel of renowned architects evaluated the submissions based on architectural excellence, sustainability, adaptability, and implementation feasibility.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore imaginative home models for future cities, showcasing designs that promise expansion, adaptability, and sustainable living at under AED 800,000. This display reaffirms the UAE's leadership in pioneering global housing innovations and illustrates the tangible possibilities for forthcoming housing projects.
