Shakira Set to Sing Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Anthem at Opening Ceremony in Mexico

Colombian pop icon Shakira is all set to perform the official anthem for FIFA World Cup 2026, titled "Dai Dai", during the event's opening ceremony in Mexico City, as announced by FIFA on Friday.

Taking place at Estadio Azteca, the ceremony kicks off 90 minutes prior to the inaugural match between Mexico and South Africa. Shakira will share the stage with renowned Nigerian artist Burna Boy for their first live performance of "Dai Dai" in front of a global audience.

The song, which was released on May 14, symbolizes the spirit of the tournament, as its title means "let's go" in Italian, encapsulating the thrill and passion surrounding this prestigious event.

Along with Shakira and Burna Boy, the opening ceremony will showcase performances by J Balvin from Colombia and South African singer Tyla, presenting an eclectic mix of international talent.

In addition to her opening act, Shakira will grace the FIFA World Cup 2026 final stage, performing during the first-ever halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, marking a significant milestone for the tournament.

FIFA has confirmed that the dynamic duo of Shakira and Burna Boy will bring "Dai Dai" to an electrifying world stage, setting the tone for what promises to be one of the most monumental sporting events globally.
