In a major move, Samsung Electronics has appointed TM Roh, the head of its mobile division, as co-CEO, reinstating the company's dual-CEO leadership structure. This change aims to enhance management oversight of mobile, TV, and home appliance sectors after a period of single leadership.
TM Roh has served as the interim leader of Samsung’s consumer division since April, following the unexpected loss of co-CEO Han Jong-Hee in March. His new role solidifies his authority over the mobile phones, TVs, and home appliances segments, reinforcing Samsung's dedication to consumer devices in an increasingly competitive landscape.
This leadership transition coincides with Samsung’s upgrade of its business support office into a more strategic division, pivotal in harmonizing decisions across a wide range of areas—from semiconductors to mobile devices.
The return to the co-CEO model is aimed at distributing operational control over its principal business segments, enabling more focused and agile decision-making. This strategic shift underscores Samsung's commitment to maintaining steady leadership amidst global technology challenges.
By appointing experienced leaders for its core consumer operations, Samsung emphasizes its strategy to uphold innovation and retain its market leadership.
