The year 2025 has been a landmark year for Indian cinema. IMDb, while releasing its annual list, announced that the film Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has emerged as the most popular Indian film of the year. Produced by YRF and directed by Mohit Suri, the film has garnered worldwide acclaim for its storytelling and chart-topping music.
According to IMDb, the rankings are based on page views from over 250 million monthly global visitors, reflecting audience interest in films and series.
In the list, the second spot was claimed by the animated film Mahavatar Narsimha, followed by Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal in third place, and Kantara: A Legend by Rishab Shetty at fourth. Rajinikanth’s Coolie, the Tamil film Dragon, Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Shahid Kapoor’s Deva, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2, and the Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra completed the top 10.
Among web series, Aryan Khan’s The Ba*ds of Bollywood** topped the list. Aryan stated, “Being at number one feels just right. It shows that the series isn’t just a weekend watch but has become part of cultural conversation.”
Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s Black Warrant took second place, while Paatal Lok Season 2 was third. Fourth was fan-favorite Panchayat Season 4, fifth and sixth were Mandala Murders and Khauf, and seventh and eighth were Special Ops Season 2 and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. The list is predominantly dominated by crime thrillers.
Yaminie Patodia, Head of IMDb India, said this year’s selections highlight exceptional creativity across languages and formats in Indian cinema.
