The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) has rescheduled the Qatar Oaks to Sunday at Al Rayyan Racecourse, responding to overnight rainfall across Qatar. This decision highlights the club's commitment to safeguarding all participants, including horses and jockeys. Meanwhile, the Qatar International Derby is confirmed to take place as planned on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with the Qatar Oaks also commencing at the same hour on Sunday.
QREC has reassured fans of its dedication to upholding the utmost safety standards aligned with international horse racing protocols. They previously announced that the Qatar International Derby, featuring 10 races and 16 horses, will unfold on the turf track at Al Rayyan with a total prize pool of USD 1.3 million, including a grand prize of USD 500,000 for the premier race of the event.
The highlight of the day is the Qatar Derby for Purebred Thoroughbreds, a prestigious Group 1 race for three-year-olds that spans 2,000 metres. The winner earns entry into the Al Shafla race during the HH The Amir's Sword Festival scheduled for February.
QREC emphasizes that both races are designed to deliver an equitable competition while ensuring the highest safety standards for horses and riders, contributing to an exciting and expertly organized racing day for all.
