Qatar Cabinet Highlights Amir’s Diplomatic Initiatives in Recent Assembly

Post by : Badri Ariffin

During its routine meeting on Wednesday at the Amiri Diwan, Qatar's Cabinet, led by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, acknowledged the relentless commitment of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in fostering regional peace.

The Cabinet commended the Amir's initiatives aimed at easing tensions in the region and promoting peaceful diplomatic discussions as a means to resolve conflicts. Such efforts are deemed crucial for reinforcing both regional and global stability and ensuring uninterrupted energy flow through vital maritime routes.

Among the diplomatic activities under the Amir’s direction highlighted was his recent trip to Muscat, where he engaged with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman. The Amir also had discussions in Doha with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of the European Council Antonio Costa. Additionally, he was part of a collaborative meeting in Antalya, Türkiye, alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistan's Prime Minister during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026. The Amir also welcomed Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II in Doha.

The Cabinet expressed optimism that the ongoing mediation efforts would garner support from all involved entities, thereby enhancing the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. It also urged continued earnest negotiations to bring about sustainable peace, foster regional stability, and safeguard the natural resources of the local populace.

On the agenda, the Cabinet deliberated on a draft law to amend particular sections of Law No. 11 of 2016 concerning the State Audit Bureau and sanctioned the decision to participate in the International Transport Forum (ITF).

Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed three reports and approved corresponding actions, which included results from the Real Estate Future Forum hosted in Riyadh in January 2026, participation in the extraordinary meeting of the GCC Transport Ministers Committee held in Bahrain in March 2026, and Report No. 19 submitted by the National Committee for Civil Aviation Security.
