Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, best known for portraying Karna in the iconic television series Mahabharat, passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 68. The actor had been battling cancer for several years and recently underwent major surgery after a relapse, but unfortunately, he could not recover from the disease.

The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) released an official statement expressing deep sorrow over Dheer’s passing. The statement confirmed his death and provided details of his cremation, which took place on the same day at 4:30 pm near Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai. Pankaj Dheer had previously served as the chairman of the CINTAA trust and as its honorary general secretary.

Pankaj Dheer is survived by his wife, Anita Dheer, a costume designer. His son, Nikitin Dheer, is a well-known actor with appearances in several Rohit Shetty films including 'Chennai Express', 'Sooryavanshi', and 'Indian Police Force'.
