4 Policemen Injured in Pakistan Polio Attack

4 Policemen Injured in Pakistan Polio Attack

Post by : Shakul

At least four police personnel were injured after unidentified militants attacked a security team protecting a polio vaccination drive in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident highlights the ongoing security risks faced during public health campaigns in the region.

According to officials, the attack took place in the Chapri Waziran area of Hangu district, where police were deployed to guard a polio team. Armed militants opened fire on the security personnel, disrupting the vaccination campaign and creating panic in the area.

The injured officers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that all four personnel are receiving medical care and are out of danger.

Security had been tightened in the area as polio campaigns in Pakistan often face threats from militant groups. Despite these risks, authorities continue efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of vaccination drives.

Following the attack, security forces launched a search operation to track down the assailants. Additional personnel have been deployed, and officials have condemned the incident, promising strict action against those responsible.

The attack underscores the challenges faced in eradicating polio in Pakistan, where repeated security incidents continue to hinder progress despite ongoing nationwide efforts.
