The first round of strategic dialogue between the Sultanate of Oman and the French Republic was successfully held in Paris on April 15, 2026, marking an important step toward strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
The Omani delegation was led by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, while the French side was headed by His Excellency Martin Prince, Secretary General of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The high-level meeting reflected the commitment of both countries to deepen diplomatic engagement.
During the discussions, both sides emphasized the depth of their strategic partnership and highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. Special attention was given to enhancing collaboration in economic and investment opportunities, energy security, as well as cultural and educational exchanges, including training initiatives aimed at long-term development.
The dialogue also focused on exploring new avenues to broaden cooperation and elevate bilateral relations to more advanced levels. Both countries expressed their shared interest in building a stronger and more dynamic partnership through continuous coordination and mutual understanding.
In addition to bilateral matters, the two sides exchanged views on key regional and international developments, particularly the ongoing crisis in the Gulf region and its wider implications. Both Oman and France underscored the importance of all concerned parties returning to the negotiating table in order to reduce tensions and promote stability in the region. Their shared stance highlighted a commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and international cooperation.
On the sidelines of the dialogue, a significant agreement was signed between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the French Republic concerning work permits for spouses of official employees. This agreement is expected to further strengthen social and professional ties between the two countries.
