Authorities in South Al Batinah have arrested two individuals on charges related to drug trafficking and possession as part of intensified anti-narcotics operations in the region.
The arrests were carried out by the Department of Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances under the South Al Batinah Governorate Police Command. The suspects, identified as Asian nationals, were apprehended following intelligence inputs and surveillance.
During the operation, officials recovered large quantities of illegal substances in the possession of the accused. These included marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, hashish, and psychotropic substance tablets, all allegedly intended for trafficking and personal consumption.
Authorities stated that the seizure reflects ongoing efforts to combat the spread of narcotics and protect communities from the dangers of drug abuse and illegal trade. The scale of the confiscated substances indicates an organized attempt to distribute drugs within the region.
Legal procedures against the accused are currently being completed in accordance with Oman’s laws. Officials confirmed that strict action will be taken as per the regulatory framework governing narcotics and psychotropic substances.
In a separate case, the South Al Sharqiyah Police Command arrested another Asian national for possessing large quantities of alcoholic beverages with the intent to trade them illegally.
Authorities emphasized that enforcement operations will continue across Oman to curb illegal activities, including drug trafficking and unauthorized sale of restricted goods, ensuring public safety and legal compliance.
