Chernihiv, Ukraine – Amidst airstrikes and blackouts, Nova Post, one of Ukraine’s leading private postal services, manages to deliver parcels throughout the nation. A typical morning in November saw employees and customers seeking safety in a concrete bunker during air raid sirens. Shortly after, they returned to their vital work, illustrating the company's enduring resilience through nearly four years of conflict.
Following Russia's invasion, Nova Post has successfully navigated missile attacks, disrupted transport routes, and power outages. As a result, the firm now processes over 1.5 million parcels daily, bridging connections between people and businesses across Ukraine. The company has further expanded its operations into 16 European countries, with plans for more growth by 2026.
Founded in 2001, Nova Post revolutionized Ukraine’s postal sector by offering speedy one- to two-day delivery services, competing directly with the state-owned Ukrposhta. Throughout the war, it has emerged as an essential lifeline, connecting western Ukraine to the frontline cities and distributing parcels to Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
Operating under wartime conditions has taken its toll. The company mourns the loss of 249 employees, including both drafted personnel and civilians who fell victim to Russian attacks. Financial losses due to the invasion are estimated at around 4 billion hryvnias ($97 million), accounting for destroyed parcels and damaged facilities. Nevertheless, Nova Post perseveres, often remaining the last significant business in active conflict areas.
Innovations within Nova Post ensure continuous operations. Major sorting centers and branch locations are equipped with generators and Starlink internet connections, allowing them to function even during blackouts. Customers frequently utilize branches for charging devices and accessing electricity.
The workforce comprises around 30,000 individuals, with a network expansion leading to nearly 33,000 automated parcel machines and 15,000 branches by 2025. The company has recorded a 35% increase in net profits in the first three quarters of 2025, amounting to 2.88 billion hryvnias ($67 million), showcasing remarkable growth against the backdrop of war.
As it looks to the future, Nova Post is expanding internationally, increasing its delivery services to Europe, the United States, China, and more. It stands as a symbol of corporate resilience and creativity in a war-afflicted economy.
With the holiday season approaching, Nova Post has introduced festive packaging influenced by traditional Ukrainian art known as Vytynanka, ensuring that each parcel brings a bit of joy during these challenging times. The firm exemplifies how, even amidst war's horrors, creativity and tenacity can unite communities, uphold businesses, and inspire hope across a nation.
