A fresh Hantavirus infection has been reported in Spain, as a citizen tested positive while under preventive quarantine at a Madrid hospital, according to the Health Ministry.
The patient in question had close contact with an individual associated with the initial outbreak. Currently, they are receiving medical care and are isolated at Gómez Ulla Hospital in the city.
Health officials confirmed that this person was already under preventive surveillance prior to receiving their positive test result for the virus. Medical teams are closely monitoring their health condition and adhering to strict safety protocols.
The Health Ministry emphasized that this case is directly related to the previously reported outbreak, and public health teams are actively engaged in monitoring to avert any further infection spread.
Hantavirus is a rare viral illness primarily transmitted through contact with infected rodents or their waste. So far, no further information regarding the patient's status has been disclosed by authorities.
