Sheikh Mohammed Restructures Emirates Health Services Board

Post by : Badri Ariffin

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE's Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has officially restructured the Board of Directors for Emirates Health Services (EHS), a pivotal moment for the country's healthcare landscape.

The board is now headed by Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, while Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal will take on the role of Deputy Chairman and Managing Director.

Included in the board are notable members such as Sheikh Maktoum Butti Suhail Butti Al Maktoum from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai; Dr. Aisha Mohammed Abdullah Yaseen, a member at Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University; along with Abdulwahab Al Halabi, a Board Member at Burjeel Holdings, Mohammed Omar Karim from Dubai Holding Group, and Nitin Khanna Kumar Khanna.

Emirates Health Services operates as a federal body under the UAE Cabinet, focusing on elevating the federal healthcare system's efficiency and ensuring high-quality healthcare delivery throughout the nation.

Key duties encompass developing healthcare policies and standards, establishing and managing hospitals and health centres, and ensuring operational excellence across these institutions.

A significant priority for Emirates Health Services is cultivating national healthcare talent, aiming to retain top medical professionals while bolstering expertise within the sector across the UAE.

The authority is also dedicated to leveraging advanced technology, digital health solutions, and AI to enhance services according to global standards.

Additionally, Emirates Health Services aims to classify federal hospitals as accredited medical education institutions and promote research contributing to healthcare advancement.

The Board of Directors will direct the authority's strategic trajectory, draft general policies for Cabinet ratification, and ensure their execution. They will also sanction operational plans vital for the authority's efficiency.

Moreover, the board will play a role in developing a comprehensive national health insurance framework in collaboration with relevant governmental entities, adhering to international standards.

This new board is anticipated to facilitate the UAE's relentless efforts to improve healthcare quality, drive innovation, and solidify its stature as a premier healthcare hub regionally and globally.
