The tremor hit at precisely 07:43:38 AM, with its epicenter pinpointed just 2.5 km northwest of Hattarkihal village in the Yaranal gram panchayat, Basavana Bagewadi taluk. The earthquake was shallow, occurring at a depth of 5 km, making it felt among residents but unlikely to result in any structural damage.

The KSNDMC reassured the public of the low intensity and magnitude of the quake, advising locals to stay calm. Earthquakes in this region are rare, and this tremor is categorized under Seismic Zone III, a moderate seismic risk designation.
