A major collaboration in Indian cinema is generating excitement as legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are set to reunite on screen for an upcoming film tentatively titled KH x RK. Reports suggest the highly anticipated project could hit theatres in 2027 during the festive Dussehra or Diwali window.
The film is expected to be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, known for blockbuster Tamil films, and produced by Red Giant Movies. Industry insiders say the project aims to bring together two of the most influential icons of Tamil cinema in a grand cinematic event.
According to reports, the production schedule will begin only after both actors finish their ongoing projects. Rajinikanth is currently involved in other film commitments, while Kamal Haasan is also working on upcoming productions. Once those projects are completed, the team plans to start filming, possibly in late 2026.
The reunion is particularly significant because it marks one of the rare occasions when the two cinema legends will share the screen again after decades. Their combined star power is expected to create massive anticipation among fans across India and overseas.
Reports also indicate that the makers are aiming for a major festival release window in 2027 to maximise audience turnout. If plans proceed as expected, the film could release during the Ayudha Pooja, Dussehra, or Diwali holiday season, which traditionally attracts large crowds to theatres.
The project has already generated strong buzz in the film industry, with fans eagerly awaiting official updates about the cast, storyline and final release date.
