Janhvi Kapoor Condemns Brutal Lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh

Janhvi Kapoor Condemns Brutal Lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh

Post by : Meena Ariff

Actor Janhvi Kapoor has spoken out strongly against the brutal lynching and killing of 27-year-old Hindu man Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The tragic incident, which involved a violent mob attack resulting in Dipu’s death by beating and immolation, has shaken many and drawn widespread condemnation. Janhvi Kapoor, moved and enraged after watching the harrowing video of the lynching, termed the act a “slaughter” and condemned the growing extremism that fuels such atrocities.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Janhvi posted a heartfelt message titled “Dipu Chandra Das,” urging people to educate themselves about the incident, watch the videos circulating online, and raise their voices against this inhuman violence. She wrote, “What is happening in Bangladesh is barbaric. It is slaughter and it is not an isolated incident. If you don’t know about his inhumane public lynching, read about it, see the videos, ask the questions. And if despite all of this you feel no rage, then it is exactly this kind of hypocrisy that will destroy us before we know it.”

Janhvi further expressed her frustration over the selective outrage often displayed by society. “We will continue to cry about things halfway across the globe while our own brothers and sisters are burnt to death. Extremism in any and every form needs to be called out and condemned before we forget our humanity,” she wrote, urging people to break the silence on such heinous acts.

Dipu Chandra Das was a 27-year-old Hindu garment factory worker employed at a knit composite factory located in the Square Masterbari area of Mymensingh. According to reports, on Thursday night, Dipu was accused of alleged blasphemy, which led to a violent mob attack in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. The mob reportedly beat Dipu mercilessly and then set him on fire. His charred body was found tied to a tree in a gruesome act of lynching.

The family of Dipu Chandra Das revealed that they first learned about the incident through social media and were devastated by the loss. Authorities have arrested at least 12 individuals suspected of involvement in the killing, and investigations are ongoing.

The incident has sparked outrage across social media platforms, where many users have praised Janhvi Kapoor for speaking out against the violence. Several comments applauded her courage to openly condemn Islamic extremism and the brutal killing, especially when many Bollywood celebrities remain silent, allegedly fearing backlash or loss of support from certain market segments.

One social media user wrote, “She is calling out the brutal lynching of Dipu Chandra Das and the savage slaughter of Hindus in Bangladesh while the rest of Bollywood stays dead silent, too scared of losing their precious Muslim-market money or ruining their ‘progressive’ image. Kudos to Janhvi for having the guts to condemn extremism right in our backyard.”

Others acknowledged Janhvi’s awareness and willingness to address tough social issues beyond her acting career. “I may not like Janhvi much as an actress, but she is very aware of what’s happening around and has the guts to speak out,” one user commented. “She is well-spoken compared to other celebrities and genuinely uses her platform to raise important issues.”

Many expressed hope that Janhvi’s example would encourage more public figures to speak out against extremism and violence wherever it occurs.

This brutal lynching has once again highlighted ongoing concerns over religious intolerance and mob violence in parts of South Asia. Incidents like this raise urgent questions about the safety of minority communities and the importance of upholding law and order. Human rights organizations and activists have called for stronger actions to prevent such tragedies and to bring perpetrators to justice swiftly.

As the investigation continues, the nation watches closely, hoping for justice for Dipu Chandra Das and a renewed commitment to combating extremism in all forms.
