A viral claim circulating on social media suggests that Israeli missiles struck the North Korean embassy in Tehran during the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States. The posts also allege that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un issued a strong warning to Israel after the supposed attack. However, there is currently no verified evidence that the embassy was targeted or damaged.
The rumors began spreading on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), where several unverified accounts shared screenshots of a statement attributed to Kim Jong Un. The statement claimed Israel had made a “huge mistake” by striking the North Korean diplomatic compound in Iran. Despite the rapid spread of the claim online, major international news agencies and official government sources have not confirmed any Israeli strike on the North Korean embassy in Tehran.
The speculation comes amid a broader escalation in the Middle East following coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets in late February 2026. Those attacks reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and triggered retaliatory missile and drone strikes by Iran across the region. The conflict has since expanded into one of the most volatile military confrontations in the region in years.
Fact-checking reports indicate that the claim about the North Korean embassy likely originated from unverified social media posts rather than confirmed reports. Investigations found no confirmation from major outlets such as Reuters, KCNA, or other international media organizations, suggesting the claim may be misinformation circulating during the war.
While there is no evidence of an embassy strike, North Korea has publicly condemned the United States and Israel over the conflict. Pyongyang also expressed support for Iran’s political leadership after Mojtaba Khamenei was reportedly chosen as the country’s new Supreme Leader. North Korean officials accused Washington and Tel Aviv of launching an “illegal military attack” that threatens regional stability.
Experts say misinformation often spreads rapidly during conflicts, particularly when strikes occur near diplomatic districts or sensitive government areas. Explosions or damage near such locations can easily lead to speculation that embassies were directly targeted.
As of now, the claim that Israel attacked the North Korean embassy in Tehran remains unverified and unsupported by credible evidence, and there has been no official confirmation of any diplomatic facility being struck in the Iranian capital.
