In a compelling display, India triumphed over New Zealand by seven wickets in the second T20I, held at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, taking a 2–0 lead in the five-match series.
Facing a challenging target of 209 runs, India encountered early difficulties as Sanju Samson fell for 6 in the opening over and Abhishek Sharma was dismissed without scoring, leaving the team at a precarious 8/2.
However, Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav turned the tide with a remarkable partnership, scoring 122 runs together. Kishan showcased his skills with a spectacular 76 off just 32 deliveries, including 11 fours and 4 sixes, before being dismissed by Ish Sodhi in the tenth over.
Suryakumar Yadav remained composed, finishing the game with a commanding 82 not out off 37 balls, supplemented by 9 fours and 4 sixes. Shivam Dube contributed with an unbeaten 36 off 18 balls, helping India reach their target in a mere 15.2 overs.
Earlier, New Zealand posted a total of 208/6 in their 20 overs, with Rachin Ravindra scoring 44 off 26 balls and captain Mitchell Santner remaining not out at 47. Kuldeep Yadav shone among the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets for 35 runs.
Even with a solid total to defend, New Zealand's bowlers were unable to contain India's aggressive batting lineup.
Brief Scores:
New Zealand: 208/6 (Santner 47*, Ravindra 44; Kuldeep Yadav 2/35)
India: 209/3 in 15.2 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 82*, Ishan Kishan 76)
With this victory, India positions themselves strongly in the series, with three matches left to play.
