Agastya Nanda’s war drama Ikkis witnessed a significant decline in box office collections on its first Monday. According to early trade estimates, the film earned around Rs 1.13 crore in India on Monday, bringing its five-day total to approximately Rs 21.50 crore.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis had a strong opening over the weekend, generating excitement among audiences for its gripping story of heroism. However, the film faced fluctuations in ticket sales across the weekend, with Monday recording a noticeable drop. Analysts suggest that weekday dips are common, but competition from other films has also affected its performance.
Overall Hindi occupancy on Monday stood at 9.17%. Morning shows saw a low occupancy of 4.78%, which rose to 8.58% during the afternoon. Evening screenings performed slightly better at 11.21%, while night shows recorded the highest attendance of the day at 12.11%.
Regionally, Delhi-NCR led with the highest number of screenings, totaling 635 shows with an average occupancy of 10%. Mumbai followed with 346 shows and a 10.25% average occupancy. Across India, the film is currently running in over 2,000 shows, covering major cities and towns.
Despite receiving positive reviews and favorable word of mouth, Ikkis is facing tough competition at the box office. Aditya Dhar’s action thriller Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly even in its fourth week. The film earned Rs 4.5 crore on Day 32 and is steadily approaching the Rs 800 crore domestic milestone, dominating audience attention and screens.
Ikkis is a war drama based on the life and sacrifice of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. Khetarpal was martyred at the young age of 21 during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, earning the nation’s highest military honor posthumously for his bravery.
Agastya Nanda plays the role of Arun Khetarpal, portraying the young officer’s courage and determination on the battlefield. Simar Bhatia plays Kiran, Arun’s love interest, bringing a personal dimension to the story of heroism.
The late legendary actor Dharmendra appears in a poignant role as Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun’s father, adding emotional depth to the narrative. The ensemble cast also features notable actors Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, Rahul Dev, and Vivaan Shah in pivotal roles.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films, Ikkis combines a historical war story with emotional drama, aiming to honor the bravery of one of India’s youngest war heroes. While the film has garnered critical acclaim for its performances and direction, its box office journey highlights the challenges of competing with established commercial hits.
